"It is convenient when I am traveling long distances, especially when I am alone." she said, then she turned to the Fox. "We've gone all this way, and I still don't know your name. I'm not sure if your employer told you mine, but I'm Siren."

The coyfox chuckled. "I'm Max." Grinning, he swept an elegant bow, tail wagging. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Siren." It looked rather ludicrous, this... coyote-fox thing in hunter's garb sweeping a bow usually performed by nobility.

Siren smiled, pursing her lips to keep from laughing. "It's very nice to meet you, Max." she said, curtsying to him in return, and then was no longer able to keep herself from laughing. She covered her mouth with her hand, and closed her eyes as she laughed. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and straightened up, smiling. She started walking again, hoping they wouldn't have to stop to sleep in the rough needled trees of the Fox Kingdom. Quietly she began humming the tune of one of the songs her adoptive mother had sang to her as a child.

He had chuckled for a bit as well as well and only walked again when could stop shaking with amusement. He wouldn't mind resting in the trees if nightfall came and they had to stop. As the cat began to hum, his mind drifted briefly back to kithood. His tail wagged as the pair walked, eyes a lot warmer and actually friendly now. His claws remained sheathed as his bare feet padded in the undergrowth.

Max seemed much more relaxed now, as they walked on through the forest part of Fox. Maybe she had earned a new friend, someone who didn't seem to have the same prejudice against hybrids as most the rest of the Crater did. After a little while of walking in silence, Siren looked up, trying futilely to see the sky through the trees above. The air had changed, and she could feel that the weather was no longer sunny and warm. "It's going to rain." she looked at Max, "Normally I would continue on my way, but if you'd like to stop and wait the rain out, we can sit down in the tavern in the next town. Its not that far from here, although I'm sure you know that... what would you like to do?" she tilted her head inquisitively and blinked at him.

"I doubt it'd be safe for you if we went to the tavern..." He began. "And I'm trying to lie low for a bit. I'd suggest we press on if you can." The coyfox smiled, his tail flicking. "I'm used to rain, it gives you practice in making sure your traps don't fall apart in it."
He continued walking without a bother. "My mentor never let me live it down when rainwater filled one of my pit traps because I hadn't done it properly. The prey got away quite easily and I went hungry that night."

"On we go then." she said, smiling. His points were valid, she should probably stay out of the public eye for a while. Especially if someone wanted her caught or dead. Stopping for a moment, she lowered the deceptively small pack from her back and pulled her cloak out. With one sweeping motion it was tied securely around her neck. The bright red color was startling, and while one would think it was quite out of place and noticeable, few people had ever looked her way when she was wearing it. The pack made no impressions under the cloak, and it was as if it wasn't even there. Standing up once more, she continued walking, avoiding the town.

Max walked with her, retaining his hunting garb. He was used to being rained on and wasn't so bothered by it anymore. He smiled, he hadn't befriended someone he had trapped before.
"So, have any amusing stories of growing up yourself?" He queried, looking sidelong at her.

Siren looked at Max when he asked her if she had any amusing stories from her childhood, her expression guarded. Her most vivid memories from her childhood were not pleasant ones, and as she tried to remember something amusing, she recalled many of her painful memories; the ones she kept locked away. Instead of answering she laughed. "I'm not sure your Cat (used here as a language) is good enough for that." she teased him, "In any case, the stories are usually funnier if you experience them." Rain was beginning to fall from the sky now, large drops. "So, how much were you supposed to get paid for capturing me?" she asked, mischief in her eyes.

"Quite a large sum. Plus a few extra things that don't translate well into Cat." He sighed. "It seemed too good to be true, and I guess it was." But he smiled again. "Next time I'll ask for part payment before I go hunting."
His tail wagged as he ignored the drops landing in his fur, flattening it, trickling through it. In fact, he held out a paw, feeling it land on it, smiling. "Do you enjoy the rain?"

Siren smiled as Max decided he'd ask for payment in advance on his next hunt. He must hunt to make a living, because Siren couldn't see the kind Fox doing it for any dark reasons. He looked like a joyful puppy as he caught the falling rain on his paw. She looked up at his face as he asked her if she liked the rain. "It has a calming effect on me, like all my worries are being washed away by a gentle shower. I feel connected to the rain, through my elements, as i am with the trees and all living things." she replied, lifting her face to the cool touch of the rain. Her ears flicked as the rain landed on them, and she lowered her face to look at him again.

Max smiled. "And in a way, you can allow rain to soothe, cool, and wash your worries away." He continued catching raindrops on his paw, looking more like a puppy than a bounty hunter. The coyfox's ears were pricked and his tail continued to wag, showcasing his positive mood. He didn't notice her eyes on him as he continued to smile happily. Eventually he met her eyes again, sheepishly when he realised she had likely been watching him.

Siren smiled in amusement as Max seemed to get embarrassed by her gaze. His behavior made her very curious about him, and why he was a hunter, although maybe his skill and necessity were the only reasons. Siren was beginning to feel the presence of the capital city of the Fox Kingdom, the bustling Foxes. It wouldn't take much longer to get there. It was beginning to get darker than just the overcast rainy dark that hid the sun even more than the trees did. Conjuring a bird-shape out of fire, she let it fly out in front of them to light up their way, careful not to let it hit any of the trees. It was safe from the rain due to it's magical properties. "We're going to have to travel through at least part of the capital..." she said, looking at Max again. "My destination is, more or less, in the center of the city. I'm not worried about myself, since I can hide myself pretty well with my cloak. Are you okay to enter the city? I mean, I know a less traveled route through the city, but its really hard not to be seen by anyone in a city like this."

He shook his head. "I'll be alright now." He grinned. "It's only a few who want me dead, otherwise I'm usually quite safe." His grin continued unabated as a particularly large drop splashed on his muzzle. Water ran down him as he walked, much to a lack of concern on his part. "But I'd recommend going or something really bad might happen..."
He paused for effect. "I'll start smelling like wet dog."

Siren nodded as he said that he would be alright and then rolled her eyes as he said that he would begin to smell like a wet dog if they stayed outside much longer. "Then come on." she said, laughing, and she started off towards the city again. It didn't take long before the sounds of the city could be heard even by human ears, and she reached out her mind to find the castle. Touching Jacob's mind, she could feel a sense of anticipation. He was waiting for her, as always. Siren lead Max silently through the city streets, careful to take the less travelled places, like alleys, to the center. When the castle loomed ahead of them, she glanced sideways at Max, wondering what he was thinking, and what he would say when he realized where they were going.
