The coyfox climbed up to a branch slightly above hers, lecturing the squirrel as he did so. After he was secure, he let himself dangle by the legs, looking at her as the squirrel hugged his tail. "Surprised? The only meat I eat is chicken. Or fish." He shrugged. "I don't have any human blood, and I do feel a connection with some of our furry cousins." He crossed his arms with some difficulty as he dangled.

Siren gazed cautiously at the Fox as he dangled next to her. "Cold blooded killer can't stand to eat 'furry' creatures? And I thought I was strange..." she mumbled. "I.. I rarely kill, uhm... they just make my mouth water." she looked away in embarrassment. She didn't like killing, or even harming things, but sometimes her animal instincts overcame her human side. Slowly, cautiously, she held her hand out to the squirrel, letting it sniff her. She watched it's little black eyes blink rapidly as it twitched forwards. Careful not to move, she watched as the squirrel touched her index finger with its paw. They stayed like that for a moment until her stomach growled and the squirrel hopped out of sight on the other side of the Fox's tail. "Wait here. I'll be right back." she said quickly, and before he could say anything she jumped out of the tree and was out of sight. She knew there was a meadow near by, she could hear the stream that ran through it. At the water's edge, she stopped and looked down, her blonde hair falling down around her face. A shadow moved under the surface, and, using her magic, she caught it and pulled it out of the water in a bubble. A second was soon also caught and she looked around, the two fish floating helplessly in the air, slowly losing water and life. A single oak tree sat beside the stream, so full of life that Siren was almost surprised to feel it's life energy so near to her. As if in response to her presence, a single seed fell, and she caught it with the power of wind, bringing it into her outstretched hand. She looked at it in awe for a moment, then, fish in tow, she streaked back to the tree she had left the Fox in. When she arrived she jumped up into the tree and sat down where she had been sitting before, letting her magic bring the fish just above her hands. Releasing the magic, she let the fish drop. "Hungry?" she asked, carefully holding out the seed to the squirrel, who sniffed at it, then greedily grabbed it and began trying to release the nut within.

The coyfox inhaled deeply and his stomach growled loudly, causing him to blush. "Yeah... Haven't eaten all day." He watched as she gave the nut to the squirrel and smiled. "That was sweet of you..." He said softly. "I can't usually obtain the nuts for them."
As he watched her, her ease of command over magic as well as a mostly-mastery of her animal side, his curiosity was aroused. "Why would someone want you dead?" He queried. "Or at least captured? If my employers were genuine, I'd like to know why I'm chasing after a dangerous target." He watched her face, watched her expression, curious. "I'll have to find that out. But before then..."
He smiled. "When do you have to meet these friends of yours?"

Siren looked at him guardedly as he commented on her obtaining a nut for the squirrel as well. She blushed and stammered, "I.. the tree gave it to me..." She looked away for a moment, and then heard him wondering aloud about why anyone would want her dead or captured. She looked at him in silence, not knowing what to tell him. She listened as he said he wanted to know why he was sent to chase after a dangerous target such as herself. dangerous... she thought, flashbacks of the first day her magic had appeared to her. She was certainly dangerous, especially when she became angry or upset and couldn't control her magic. She looked away from him, hoping he hadn't seen the fear in her eyes. The day she had learned of her magical heritage had been a very traumatic one, and she still often had nightmares about it. "Well, here's the fish I caught you." she said, handing it to him, and using her fire magic to quickly cook her own. She regained control of her emotions as she took her first bite of fish and looked at him as he continued talking. "Well, I was hoping to be there by nightfall tonight, although they know that sometimes unexpected delays happen in my travel plans." she said, blinking at him. "How exactly do you plan on getting the information from your employers about me? wouldn't that defeat the purpose of your little fake death idea?" she asked.

He bit in, relishing the taste. He had ignored her actions, knowing she had reasons and not wanting to pry. His teeth shone as he bit again. "I can ask around. It's not the first time they tried to get me killed."
He bit again daintily. "By the way, you caught some very fine fish. I'm impressed." He looked at her curiously. "And as for your friend, I hope they won't freak out if they see me with you on the way." He eyed her carefully. "At the same time, I can make sure someone more... ferocious than me is kept away, granted you have magic but..." He hesitated, then went on. "You don't have the same senses as some of the populace in this kingdom."

Siren watched him, his demeanor was almost carefree as if he knew he'd be alright in the end, or it didn't matter that he wouldn't. She was eating mechanically until he complimented her on the fish she had caught. She looked down at the one she held and as she took another bite, she actually let the taste fill her mouth. "you're right, it is good.." she replied after she had swallowed the bite. She looked up as he wondered about the people she was going to see. "I'm sure they will welcome you once I tell them you're looking out for me," she smirked. "I'll be sure to leave out the 'you were hunting me, possibly could have been the cause of my death' part. That certainly wouldn't be a good thing to mention..." she laughed a little at the thought. "You may have to be careful around Jacob, though. He confessed his everlasting and unrequited love for me the last time I saw him... He might be a little jealous." she winked at him jokingly. "More ferocious than you? there's really such a thing?" she teased, finishing the last of her fish and jumping out of the tree. She narrowed her eyes at the mention of her senses. "You're right about one thing. They're certainly nothing like yours." she said, her eyes flashing dangerously, the pupil changing slightly from green to an orangey color. "Don't underestimate me." she said, turning her head to look away from him so that she could calm down. Breathing deeply, her eyes returned to their normal green color. "I wouldn't mind the extra set of eyes and ears, though. I'm sure your senses will prove invaluable." she said, smiling up at him.

The coyfox smirked at the mention of Jacob. "I'll be careful. I'm not ready to begin courting anyway." He finished the fish and bid the squirrel farewell as he dropped beside her to see her eyes change colour. After his initial shock, he looked unimpressed. "I don't intend to underestimate you, but I'm being honest. You have more than just your senses available to you. We have no such thing."

Siren's eyes were full of worry. "I'm sorry. Sometimes I am quick to anger. Please remember that, because if you thought I was dangerous before now, I can say it's worse when I'm upset. Bad things happen when I'm angry." she whispered, near tears from remembering once again what had happened the day she had found out about her magical abilities. "I really didn't mean..." she started, then closed her mouth. "Let us go then.." she said, and started off in the direction she had been moving before.

The fox followed quietly, wanting to discuss something a little more casual. He tried a different tact. "So what was life like, growing up for you?" He asked curiously, tail flicking slightly. His attention was on her, but part of it was always placed to listen for danger.

Siren looked at the Fox, disarming herself as he asked her what growing up had been like for her. She wasn't sure exactly what to say. "I don't know either of my parents, but I grew up, for the most part, in a small Cat town with a very nice tigress. It was not until our King requested I move to the castle to aid him that I discovered my magic, so life in that small town was very pleasant." she replied. "my adoptive mother taught me how to hunt, and some fighting skills, although i'm not quite built like a cat, so it was difficult for her. The rest of my training happened at the castle, under the watchful eye of some very skilled tutors. I haven't had much training for my magical abilities, because it's not really a common trait for Cats."

He chuckled. "I wouldn't say you were too bad with your magical abilities." His tail wagged as he listened, fascinated. "It sounds like you have a peaceful life in that little town. Wish I could go back to being a kit again." He smiled wistfully, looking less and less like the ferocious predator he was supposed to be. "That was a joyful time."

Siren smirked, "No attempts on your life, then?" she asked laughing. "Tell me about your childhood." she said, smiling at him. She was curious about the Fox. He was like nothing she'd ever seen before.

"I never knew my mother or really knew my father. My brother raised me from kithood back at our village." He grinned. "He'd tell me stories about my mother, he enjoyed life. He always hoped I'd be big and strong like him, I kinda did too..." He shrugged. "But I never did. So he taught me a little about trapping and tracking, the basics most of us learn. Then I moved in with a mentor who taught me how to be an expert. I liked him, even if he had a morbid sense of humour.
The fox shrugged. "When you're a hunter, you usually end up with one. He also taught me beyond the basics of reading and writing. I learned other languages, like the one we speak now, and I loved reading old tales."
He sighed. "Eventually I had to move on and view the world truly for myself. It's mostly been pleasant, except when I'm meant to be dead." He smiled. "I'm still alive, so that's going well too."

Siren smiled at him. "How many of your marks can say the same?" she asked, laughing, "It is a little odd that I have the chance to ask such questions, I'll admit." As she often did when she was traveling alone, Siren held out her hand in front of her and conjured fire magic in her hand. She liked to manipulate the fire into shapes in her palm, such as a flower or a bird. Today she made the shape of a small bird in flight, wings flapping up and down, and occasionally gliding. She closed her eyes, using her other senses to keep from walking into things. With her eyes closed, she reached out slightly with her mind, brushing slightly against the Fox's strong life force to sense how close they were to her destination. Still unable to sense anyone familiar nearby, she pulled back her mind and opened her eyes.

The coyfox was fascinated by the flaming bird. Common sense kept his paws from touching it, but he still examined it in awe. "Impressive, beautiful..." He murmured. "I'm envious. You'd certainly be able to entertain yourself like this."
He laughed. "I get so bored when waiting at a trap. That's why I tend to play with squirrels and the like, it helps pass the time."
