So I was wondering, for a couple of years now there has been an option on proboards to allow this chat type thing to be placed on the site. Now under regular circumstances, putting it there randomly tends not to work so well. One person goes there, sees that no one else is there, and then leaves. As a result, there is never anyone there and the chat option gets forgotten about.
With this said, if you have a reason for people to be there, then perhaps they would actually come on the chat sometimes. At the same time, on this site, we don't really have a problem of people coming, but rather posting. The main plot, as well as other connected to it, need to be planned before that, which makes it difficult to post sometimes. In addition, in order to make your post literate, you have to type quite a bit, which after a while can be a drag at times, for some people anyway.
So, what I am suggesting is that the chat be set up for WC and we have scheduled "rp sessions" about every two weeks or something to that effect where people come and rp in more of the chat style rp that was very popular 10 years ago apparently. Chat rp's or at least the little that I've seen of them, tend to have very little description into their actions, not as much as the forum ones at any rate. That is both a blessing and a curse, because while many RPers like details, it also encourages people to post. Also, the plot probably won't be planned and changed each time, so we don't have to worry about plot complications, which is kind of what we need right now.
There is a problem, which is the major plus for the forum-type rp. You see, me, Siren and Kyern, live in Canada. Pyros and Max lives in Australia. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that we live in different time zones. What is prime time for one group of people to be on is not so good for other people. I don't know where Vergo and Dewdrop and everyone else lives, but probably not in either of our timezones. The problem is remedied slightly with me and Siren being nighthawks, but still not the greatest situation, so we will need to figure something. I suggest to have these meeting if we have them during the weekend because people at least might not have school/work.
If we do have this rp chat. I suggest that while rping, we just type normally, however if we say something that is meant to be OOC, we put it in < these or something>
Here is a hypothetical chat between me and Siren (hopefully she doesn't mind):
Kitsura: and then Kitsura turned around and spoke to Siren.
Kitsura: "Siren do you know where the map would even be?
Siren: Siren thought for a moment and replied "No."
Kitsura: <lol I just had the best tasting potato EVER>
Siren: <uhhh... Good for you?>
Kitsura: <I know>
Siren: The cat girl pondered for a moment. "Perhaps in the library. Sometimes the most obvious places are also the best places to hide such things"
And that is basically how it would work. I think the plot lines would be just made up as you go, and a new one is made up by people at each meeting.
So, what do you guys think?
