Name: Max Füchs-Kojote
Kingdom: Fox Kingdom
Species: Fox/Coyote hybrid. (Nonhuman)
Gender: Male
Age: 18 (as of plot two)
Ranks: Hunter
Translator, Tracker, Trapper
Description: Lanky. Reddish-brown fur with deep blue eyes. Bipedal limbs of his species. Wears a khaki shirt with brown shorts, but occasionally will remove pieces in order to meld more easily. Sharp claws and teeth, and sharp facial features.
Personality: Somewhat cold at times, especially to those he doesn’t know. This ‘coldness’ can lead to hostility, especially if he has any reason to distrust. He finds it hard to trust anyone, and rarely makes friends, unsurprising with the ice in him. But to those he eventually befriends, he shows canine loyalty and won’t betray them.
Around animals he shows a much softer side. Being a lot more playful, affectionate and cublike. Both to those who can respond vocally and those who are more restricted in communication. Often on a hunt, he can be sidetracked by a furry critter wanting to play with his tail.
He can be surprisingly vain about his claws and teeth, and will be very annoyed if they get damaged in any way. Part of this vanity stems from them being his best weapons, and part from the fact they lend a lot more of a threatening image than he actually has.
History: Max’s mother died in childbirth, his father was hardly one to care for his offspring, so he was raised more by his older brother, Aaron. His childhood was rather innocent, a stark contrast to how his recent life has been.
His older brother had been a bounty hunter for some time in his life. Preferring combat to anything else, he had a rather bulky build and had attempted to train Max to be the same. Unfortunately, despite efforts on both parts, this was never going to be the case. Eventually his older brother threw in the towel and simply taught Max the basics of trapping and tracking. Rather unexpectedly, Max took to these lessons like a fish to water, learning fast and excelling to the point he easily became as good as his older brother.
Eventually when Max was 8, Aaron introduced Max to an ordinary hunter. This hunter would take Max in for a few years, teaching him fine skills in both trapmaking, trapsetting and tracking. Max continued to excel, being extremely enthusiastic and enjoying the entire idea of tracking anything down.
In his spare time, he also enjoyed reading, both fictional and historical. The mentor in turn introduced Max to an archivist, who taught the young coyfox the basics of translating some ancient languages as well as modern ones. Despite his incredibly harsh accent (learning how to talk from a wolf-coyote has that effect), Max was a natural translator. He managed to tone down the harshness of his accent, but when he got emotional it got noticeably thicker again.
Eventually both hunter and archivist judged Max as ready to enter the world at fourteen. He returned to living with his brother for a year, learning the methods of obtaining a bounty, performing the task and returning for the reward. HE learned of basic locations where bounty missions could be found and how to ensure that you are the one to get them.
At fifteen he was released to enter the world alone as he saw fit, utilising his hunting skills to get several bounties to help pay for his meals and comforts. Motivation to succeed was in the fact that reputation spreads and failure generally does not bode well for future missions.
These skills would eventually earn him enemies, and that was when he was given a mission to track down and capture a Cat, alive. The mission was a trap, as said Cat was not helpless in the slightest, as she proved by burning his net to ash. His gift of languages came into play as he communicated with her, and she in turn led him into the Kitsune King's house. The King decided to hire Max as his 'Shadow', performing acts of espionage, diplomacy and sometimes assassination.
Role play sample:The coyfox lounged on a tree branch, a very offended squirrel giving him repeated glares until he relented and let it play with his tail. It happily went for it and actually hugged it. He smiled, but one ear listened. His prey was due to walk by here, or so he had predicted, and he wanted to see if he could trap it first. Trying to fight was messy, and he hated messing up his claws.
His ears heard a stick snap and he turned his head casually, watching the human walk.
Clumsy. Heh. He screwed up his face as the humans scent reached his nose. And revolting. And I have to bring him alive. I better get a bonus for this.
The human continued walking unaware of his danger. Obviously ignorant as he stepped on a patch of differently coloured ground. Max swept a claw, the protective net covered in leaves and earth dropped, causing the human to fall into a small hole. Not much, but enough to twist an ankle. He smiled and looked at the squirrel.
“Go on, you have nuts to forage little one.” He drew the tail away. The squirrel chattered and clambered away quickly. Max slid off the branch and landed properly, a trick he had picked up. The human was almost out of the hole when a paw touched his shoulder, claws in his vision. He turned his head, face screwed in pain, then eyes widened in slight fear as he was met with a row of very sharp teeth.
