Others will sometimes look at him with scorn, others with envy, because of his vast amount of knowledge at his young age. his doesn't phase Deniek because he doesn't listen or care for the gossip of small town life.
History: When Deniek was a boy he grew up with a strong brother. His brother, Raistlin, would look after him because Deniek was always frail and sick. One day Raistlin was telling stories of heros and legends, of warriors killing dragons and of orcs raiding villages. Raistin told a story of the great Achmendia, one of the mages of old. When Deniek heard of this story he pursued magic and knowledge. when Deniek turned sixteen his father took him to the sorcerers tower in the castle of the town. This is where Deniek learned of powerful spells and healing elixirs. Deniek was granted the Book of Ages, a spell book that all full mages were given, but at a costly price. To get this book Deniek had to go though a trail that tested his mind, his devotion, and body. The test is extremely secretive and can not be shared. but in the end the head of the magi found Deniek half dead outside the tower, but he had past the test.
Role play situation: Deniek sat in the corner of the inn, Half listening in on others conversations, half studying his magic book. Deniek reached into one of his many pockets on the inside of his coat, fully aware that pulling out the wrong item could get him killed. people around these parts don't like magi, infact they hate them. Deniek pulled out a quill and ink and set it on the table in front of him, then a parchment was taken out and he started writing runes. He was casting a simple spell, a spell to numb his aching head, but the men around him weren't about to see any magic at all. A tall, dark haired cat stood up from his table and slammed his ale in front of Deniek, drops of the ale landed on the paper and smeared the ink, ruining the spell. "what are you doing mage, we don't like your kind around here. All magi are evil, they only want to see the destruction of the world, death to all non-silver vipers. What are you going to do? blow up the building with that paper? maybe put us all to sleep and stab us while we dream?" Deniek sat motionless while the drunk man gave his speech. Deniek put his quill and ink away and withdrew his hands into his coat. "All i want is to drink my ale and memories some runes, i meen you no harm" Deniek looked into the eyes of the cat, no emotion showing. "right, well then we will just leave you to your business" the cat turned around and walked away. not three seconds later the cat charged back a chair in hand, ready to bash the magi's brains out. Deniek was ready for the reaction though, many times he had to deal with drunken fools. Deniek swiftly threw a blue crystal from within his coat, it struck the cat on the forehead. " ELGG" the blue crystal disappeared and the cat fell to the ground, a black mark where the crystal had hit. Deniek picked up his books and strolled out of the inn, leaving others to care for the cat
